Interactive Mobile App Assists Users through First Years of Recovery

Hazelden has launched a new mobile app that guides users through the challenging first years of recovery, offering videos and tools for tracking progress, tips on relapse prevention and instant links to sponsors and nearby support meetings.

The Mobile MORE Field Guide to Life app grew out of the MORE (My Ongoing Recovery Experience) online program Hazelden provides its patients as they leave treatment. A recent study in The Journal of Substance Abuse Treatment on the web-based version of the program indicated that individuals who engaged with the MORE program showed significantly higher abstinence rates than those who dropped out or accessed only a few modules.

With the Field Guide for Life app, users move through the stages of early recovery over the course of a year. The app provides daily meditations, video challenges that urge app users to tackle a sober challenge each week and tools for tracking their biggest obstacles and supports for recovery. The app also counts days of sobriety and helps users find a meeting and create a personalized relapse-prevention plan.

The app can be downloaded to the iPhone, iPad, iPod touch or Android phones.

"Finding recovery support after treatment is essential to preventing relapse and maximizing a person's chance of sustaining long-term sobriety," said Nick Motu, Hazelden's publisher and Vice President of Marketing and Communications. "The Field Guide to Life combines Hazelden's expertise in addiction and recovery with mobile technology to offer those in recovery the guidance and support they need as they grow and evolve in their new lives."

Additional information and video demonstration of the Mobile MORE Field Guide to Life app are available on the Hazelden website.
