Meeting Schedule
The Board meets every fourth Thursday at 12:00 PM, except in October. A public meeting is held on the third Thursday of October at 2:00 PM.
Meeting location: Administration Building, 820 South Three Notch Street, Suite B, Andalusia, AL 36420.
Lunch will be served at 11:30 AM for all meetings, except the public meeting. Meetings begin at noon. There is no scheduled meeting in November. Due to the holidays November and December meetings are combined.

Board Responsibilities
Members of the Governing Body/Board of Directors of South Central Alabama Mental Health Center appreciate the duty that is accorded them in serving as a Board Member and understand their responsibilities are as follows:
Governance and Accountability
The primary duty of the board is to govern the organization in accordance with the will of the stakeholders, the needs of the community served by the organization, and state, local, and federal laws. The board adopts broad operational policies and ensures implementation.
Mission and Planning
Supports and approves the organization's mission and purpose. It is the board's responsibility to support and review a statement of mission and purpose that articulates the organization's goals, means, and primary stakeholders served. Ensure effective organizational planning through active participation and monitoring.
Financial Oversight
The board must provide proper financial oversight through adoption of an annual operating budget, review of monthly financial statements, and review of the annual financial audit. Review/approve financial reports. May be involved in some type of fundraising.
Management
Select, support, and evaluate the Executive Director. Support and review his/her performance.
Board Operation and Performance
Recruit and orient new board members and assess board performance. The Board has the responsibility to articulate prerequisites for candidates, orient new members, and periodically and comprehensively evaluate its own performance.
Community Awareness
Represent the organization in the community, clearly articulating the organization's mission, accomplishments, and goals to the public and garner support from the community.
Program and Service Evaluation
Conduct an annual program evaluation and monitor quality improvements activities. Approves new policies and procedures and creation of new programs. Determine and monitor the Center's programs and services.
Individual Responsibilities
Regular attendance at board meetings. Review agenda and supporting materials prior to board and/or committee meetings. Follow conflict of interest and confidentiality policies. Provides oversight for specific operations (e.g., serving on a board committee).
