Court Referral Education Program

Established in 1990 to reduce alcohol- and drug-related crimes in Alabama. CREP provides court-referred individuals with education, self-assessment tools, and personal change planning — available in Butler, Coffee, and Covington Counties.

Program Overview

Education that empowers informed decisions

The Court Referral Education Program (CREP) provides individuals referred by the court system with essential information and resources to empower them in making informed decisions. The program aims to reduce recidivism and foster personal accountability by equipping participants with the tools necessary for positive life changes. Individuals are referred to SCAMHC by Court Referral Officers after an evaluation. Some participants may need further assessment by a therapist before taking classes; others are assigned directly to Level 1 or Level 2 without re-evaluation. Program fees are the responsibility of the participant and must be paid in full before enrolling.

  • Level 1: 12 hours across four 3-hour sessions — $150 class + $30 workbook = $180 total
  • Level 2: 24 hours across eight 3-hour sessions — $290 class + $40 workbook = $330 total
  • Juvenile Classes available in all three counties as needed — 2-hour sessions over six weeks, max 12 students
