Support Coordination and Case Management Services for individuals with developmental disabilities in Butler, Coffee, Covington, and Crenshaw counties — coordinating services and supports to enhance health, safety, and general welfare.

Service Overview

Coordinating care for individuals with developmental disabilities

SCAMHC provides Development Support Coordination and Case Management Services to individuals with developmental disabilities across Butler, Coffee, Covington, and Crenshaw counties. Support Coordinators identify, coordinate, and oversee the delivery of services and supports to enhance the health, safety, and general welfare of each individual served. Three Activity Training Centers currently serve 72+ individuals, with Case Managers in Coffee and Covington counties also serving individuals in the community.

Butler County Activity Training Center

Greenville, AL — serving individuals with developmental disabilities in Butler County.

Coffee County Training Center

Enterprise, AL — serving individuals with developmental disabilities in Coffee County.

Covington County Training Center

Andalusia, AL — serving individuals with developmental disabilities in Covington County.

Support Coordination

Three Case Managers serve our four-county area, with one additional Case Manager dedicated to the waiting list.

Community Services

Coffee and Covington County Case Managers serve individuals in the community as well as in day programs.

Developmental Disability is characterized by significant limitations in both intellectual functioning and adaptive behavior — including conceptual, social, and practical everyday skills. This disability originates before the age of 18. It is the current preferred term for the disability previously referred to as intellectual disability or mental retardation.

Assessment areas

Developmental disability is diagnosed by evaluating:

  • Intellectual Functioning — typically measured by an IQ test; a score of around 70–75 indicates a limitation
  • Conceptual Skills — language and literacy
  • Social Skills — interpersonal skills, social responsibility, and self-esteem
  • Practical Skills — activities of daily living and personal care
