A 3-bed transitional home in McKenzie, AL for women ages 18 and older with serious mental illness and intellectual disabilities — up to 24 months of supported community living with 24-hour oversight.
Transitional support for women with serious mental illness
Graceland is a three-bed congregate living facility in McKenzie, AL for adult females 18 and older diagnosed with serious and persistent mental illness and intellectual disabilities who require social rehabilitation and community support. Consumers learn to manage their mental illness and develop skills for independent living. Normal length of stay is up to 24 months. The home is not intended for long-term permanent placement. Residence is voluntary. The program is designed to serve residents of Covington, Coffee, Crenshaw, and Butler Counties.
- 24-hour protective oversight and supervision by trained staff
- Three meals and two snacks provided daily

Safe Transitional Housing
A structured, supervised home environment designed as a bridge from state psychiatric hospitals to independent community living.
Basic Living Skills
Training in money management, meal preparation, laundering, shopping, transportation, house cleaning, personal hygiene, nutrition, and health and safety.
Rehabilitation Day Program
Access to structured day programming to build recovery skills and positive community connections.
Three Meals Daily
Three nutritious meals plus two snacks provided daily, seven days a week.
Family Support & Education
Family education about psychiatric illness and guidance for loved ones on supporting recovery.
Social & Community Orientation
Recreation, community activities, vocational services, and assistance locating long-term community placement.
Who Qualifies for the 3-Bed Group Home
Graceland serves females 18 and older with serious and persistent mental illness and intellectual disabilities requiring 24-hour protective oversight. Priority for admission is given first to consumers currently residing in a State Psychiatric Hospital, then to persons in the community.
- Impaired contact with reality or social withdrawal
- Moderate to severe disabling depression, anxiety, or somatic symptoms
- Poor medication compliance, socialization, interpersonal, or problem-solving skills
- Does NOT qualify: Primary diagnosis of Substance Use Disorder, brain damage, or developmental/intellectual disability
- Does NOT qualify: Medical problems requiring hospitalization or 24-hour nursing care
